As a small business owner myself who coaches other small business owners, I can tell you that the speech still didn’t answer many questions. President Obama is an eloquent speaker, but is a little naive and disingenuous about the health care reform proposals.
President Obama says that no one will be required to change their insurance plan. When you look at the current proposals, that doesn’t appear to be exactly true. Changing plans may not be required, but the impact of health care reform may be so costly that you may have to change plans.
The President talked about reducing waste and preventing fraud and yet it is well documented that waste and fraud have almost bankrupted medicare. Why do you have to have health care reform before attacking those problems first? If the government hasn’t been able to curtail those problems up to now, what makes you think they can suddenly do it now?
How can implementing another huge bureaucracy, filled with special interests, and raising taxes be the answer we need? When you add up the numbers, it just doesn’t make sense in the long run.
Everyone, including small business owner, recognize the need to fix health care, but this just isn’t the answer.
